Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Cleveland Heights public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Vacant lot sales and zoning update
Council finalized the sale of three vacant residential lots to owner-occupant builders (the Caledonia lot was pulled and returns to a developer RFP). Council Member Cohen also reassured neighbors that Hampshire Park stays in the zoning update — no changes take effect January 1 and public input comes in late winter.
Council Committee Structure
Council is replacing three separate committees with a single committee-of-the-whole format on a trial basis through September. This changes when and how residents see committee work happen, and could make council more coordinated — or less specialized.
Artist housing and creative-sector space
A companion study found artists are being priced out of the community that drew them here, with housing the biggest need after studio space. Recommendations include live-work units, low-cost practice and maker spaces, better outreach about existing city programs, and possibly dedicating space in developments like Park Synagogue and Taylor Tudor.
Noble Road neighborhood conditions
Residents flagged the blighted condemned building at 2646 Noble Road, unanswered questions about who maintains the neighborhood's 74 planters, and the new $300,000 NABA agreement for the business district.
Noble Road corridor plan
The Noble Road corridor plan is being restarted with a completed market study informing it; it will cover safety, streetscape and economic development, with landscape options designed to encourage apartment buildings to improve their front yards.
